In 1966 Skoll Beer, well known in beer and malt industry, had a new expansion strategy. With Skoll International, the Sabancı Group wanted to produce beer and barley. There was almost no beer production in the private sector. The Ankara state authorities questioned the idea of having foreign investment in agriculture and beer production. Later on, other companies started production, but the conditions were not the same as the ones we had when we had gotten in touch with Skoll. We missed the opportunity.
